Smiling cows and snuggly bears | Te Awamutu newborn photographer

Did you know that when you book a newborn photography session with me, whether in my Te Awamutu photography studio or at your own home, we plan EVERYTHING to be perfect for your family and your home? The colours, the styles, the overall feel, the props… If you've seen cute photos you like, and wonder who came up with the ideas and colours for them, the answer is simple - we do it together!

Every newborn photo shoot includes a planning consultation over the phone, where we talk through everything - from what you are most looking forward to about your new baby that we can capture in our photos, to what the colours and decor are like in your home, and how you'd like to display your photos. I don't want you to get to the end of your photo shoot and think, "I wish we'd done that differently!" Let's talk it all over together and create photos that are PERFECT for you!

(Warning - I love to hear about pregnancies and babies and hopes and dreams, and there's a chance you might cry on the phone while we are day dreaming and planning together! There's also a chance you might make ME cry at your words too!)

THE FAMILY

Te Awamutu is such a small town! Olivia’s family was referred to me by a previous customer, who was in turn referred by another customer and friend. During our planning consultation we realised that they are share milkers on the farm of some of our good friends, our husbands went to school together, they know most of our extended family, and we have dozens of friends in common! I'm an import to this lovely little town and the Waikato region (and to the country - you might notice my Aussie twang if you talk to me, although I think it's toned down after well over a decade of living here!), but it seems like I married into family history and an awesome small town welcoming committee! Who else loves small towns?!

I love meeting people who instantly feel like old friends. Olivia’s design consultation went for well over two hours, because we were chatting about farm succession and mutual friends and toddler wrangling, as well as designing their artwork!

THE DESIGN BRIEF

Soft creamy and neutral colours to tie in with cream coloured walls and wooden ceilings, along with some dusty pink features.

Olivia’s family are dairy farmers, so we had to also throw in the adorable little cow hat and ear tag! Olivia's cheeky smile just sealed the deal on this one being a favourite!

THE ARTWORK

The family had a wall picked out for their photos, and knew (from checking out my Wall Gallery Guide) exactly which layout they wanted to use for it. We just had to choose which photos were their favourites (easier said than done when your first selection includes about 25!), and get the balance and colours looking perfect. Here is the end result. Stunning huh?!

They also needed an album to fit in the rest of those photos that didn't quite make the cut for the wall!

THE SESSION

This little girl was a total dream to work with! We may have gone a little overboard on the number of poses, because I just couldn't help myself!

THE QUOTE

"She doesn't have any eyes!" Her aunty had apparently decided that Olivia did nothing but sleep - in several visits she'd never seen her with her eyes open! Olivia proved that was wrong during our photo shoot - and I'm glad she did, because look at those gorgeous eyes!
